Wow, what a whirlwind of a week!
My last day at Quercus was on Tuesday. I’ll miss working with the team there. Andrew is an inspiring leader who, along with an incredibly talented crew, is creating an amazing workplace culture. I’ve made a lot of new life-long friendships there and I am looking forward to see how Quercus and the people there grow.
On Wednesday I stepped into my new role as the leader of my own small business. Citizen39 is a cloud services consultancy that specializes in Microsoft Cloud Services. Office 365, Exchange Online, Lync, SharePoint Online, and Windows Azure are each services that Citizen39 will specialize in.
The remainder of the week saw me bootstrapping the business which included establishing partnerships, such as with Microsoft. As a Microsoft Partner Citizen39 has means and infrastructure that will allow it to be a competitive player in the Microsoft Cloud Services consulting space. Interested in an Office 365 demonstration?
One thing I’ve learned over the past few years is the importance of strategic planning, and setting smart and measurable objectives. So far so good. With a lot of due diligence I’ve already achieved one of my first quarter goals! Creating and executing a strategic plan is something that I’ve found to be surprisingly engaging and fun. I’ve always been good about setting and achieving goals. Executing on the plan to achieve my new goals is going to be a very exciting adventure – I’m all in!
2014 is going to be very exciting and I know there will be challenges along the way, but I am prepared for that. I’m not afraid to fail; as long as I fail fast, learn quickly, and move on. This first quarter will see me doing a lot of networking. I enjoy networking now and the more I do it the better I get at it. I’m looking forward to 2014.
